The Cooking Bridal Shower Theme

If you have a bride-to-be that has taken the leap from dining out and phoning for take-out to producing extravagant dinners for friends and family, then a Cooking Themed Shower could be the perfect event!

Cooking Themed Shower Invitations

There are many cooking and kitchen themed bridal shower invitations available through stationary providers, like the French Country Kitchen, Tomato Bouquet and Gleam invites from PaperStyle.

You can easily create homemade shower invitations that speak to the personality of your bride. We love the Vintage Cooking Themed Bridal Shower Invites featured on Salvage Life, pictured below. See how Beth Giles put together themed envelopes and invites using a vintage recipe book and materials from Etsy.

Recipe RSVP Cards

Include Recipe RSVP cards with the invitations, and they’ll become a treasured collection of recipes from family and friends. The recipe RSVP cards are a wonderful way for guests who are unable to attend, to be included in this special event for their loved one! You can find pre-printed Recipe cards, or make custom cards using 4×6 index cards. Have each guest fill in her name, response and recipe.

Once you receive the replies, display them at the event, along with a nice recipe box for the bride to hold her collection. The recipe cards with handwritten recipes from each guest could also be scanned and made into a book for the bride. You could also type up the recipes using a word processing program, like Microsoft Word, and print copies of the collection for guests to take home as lovely favors.

Host A Cooking Class

Mix things up by hiring a local chef to teach guests how to prepare a delicious meal! Consider having your shower at a cooking store, like Sur La Table, that often offers cooking classes to it’s patrons, and inquire about hosting a special event.  Guests could be greeted with appetizers and wine upon arrival and during the cooking demonstration, then either eat the dishes prepared or have a catered meal.

Foodie Favors

Share the bride’s love of food and cooking with gifts that guests can use in their own kitchens. Flavor infused sugars and salts are easy to make, and can be packaged in adorable little containers, like those featured with the Rosemary Sea Salt Favor, by Martha Stewart pictured.

Use your imagination to come up with fun, miniature sizes of homemade spices and treats that can be packaged neatly and guests can take home and use in their own cooking. GT at myc(oi)nurse has written up the steps of how she created these beautiful vanilla sugar and vanilla extract shower favors.

If you’re handy in the kitchen, or have friends and family that know a thing or two about cooking for a crowd, think about preparing a foodie favor that the bride’s family is known for, or that’s perfect for the season.
