Holiday Theme - Decorations
Throwing a holiday themed bridal shower is a timely affair in the winter months and can be even more fun in the summertime! Many new couples start out with very few holiday decorations - this shower gets them started!
You can center the holiday theme around a particular holiday or have different holiday "areas" at the bridal shower.
If you're centering the decorations around one holiday, like Christmas, you can use decorations that you and the wedding party may have. Another great idea is to peruse antique stores and thrift shops for items that can be used as decorations and then given to the bride to take home.
For a Christmas themed bridal shower, a wonderful way to display decorations guests may bring, is on a miniature artificial tree. Ready the tree with lights and set it near the bride when she begins opening presents. When ornaments are opened, hang them on the tree - this makes a beautiful backdrop for the event and for photos.
A very sweet activity is to instruct guests to each make a homemade ornament that will remind the bride of them. At the shower, the bride tries to guess who made each ornament. If the bride cannot guess, the guest who made it reveals her identity and then gets a surprise present.
Another twist on the traditional Christmas Wish garland is to have guests give you their wedding wishes and then either have them embroidered or transferred onto thin strips of light colored fabric. Each saying on a fabric strip will be used as the inner circle of one ring on a Christmas garland. Choose an assortment of holiday fabrics for the outer facing of the ring. String the rings together into a Christmas garland and display at the shower for the bride and guests to admire.
